Letters of Recommendation

I only write letters for students I can strongly support. Generally, this means you have earned an A or an A- in two classes with me, have participated in an independent research activity with me, or are being mentored by me in some capacity. Students who fit any one of these criteria and need a letter of recommendation should email me at least 1 month in advance of any deadlines. Please attach any relevant materials, such has a draft cover letter, grant proposal, and resume/CV, and provide detailed instructions on when and how to submit letters.

Research Mentoring

I am passionate about mentoring student research at all levels. For undergraduates, I will serve as a senior thesis advisor, provide research opportunities, and oversee independent studies. For graduate students, I will serve as a dissertation committee member, read working papers, and demystify “the hidden curriculum” of how to publish and navigate the job market. Students who are interested in working with me should email me with a clear and detailed request and I will usually respond within a week. If I cannot address your request or if feel we may not be a good fit, I will always do my best to provide point you in the direction of someone who can be of further assistance.
