I’m an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Connecticut.  Before coming to Connecticut, I received my Ph.D. in Political Science at the George Washington University.

I specialize in international relations, with an emphasis on the economic determinants of foreign policy. My research has appeared and is forthcoming in the European Journal of International Relations, International Security, International Studies QuarterlyInternational Theory, and Perspectives on Politics. My book, The Price of Empire: American Entrepreneurs and the Origins of the United States’ First Pacific Empire, co-authored with Eric Grynaviski, is forthcoming with Cambridge University Press. I am currently working on another book project that examines the influence of American corporations on U.S. foreign policy.

I care deeply about teaching political science and helping students learn how to think and talk insightfully about international relations. I teach at both graduate and undergraduate levels.
